The background
Corda Arena is a next-generation event venue on Corda Campus in Hasselt, Belgium. Designed by Populous, the architects behind the ABBA Arena in London and the Sphere in Las Vegas, the arena features a cube, fully modular layout with a flexible stage and seatings with a capacity of up to 3,750 live attendees. The venue is built for various segments, ranging from esports tournaments and niche sports like padel to B2B conferences, helping organizers, brands, and professionals engage global audiences. By combining live, digital, and virtual experiences, the venue brings audiences together wherever they are in the world.
To bring this vision to life, Corda Arena needed a streaming partner who could handle the full complexity of their requirements: streaming multiple 4K camera feeds with ultra-low latency, enabling immersive VR viewing on headsets for remote viewers, hosting a complete video-on-demand library, and more. After evaluating the technical requirements of its innovative setup, Corda Arena selected Dolby OptiView as its technology partner.
The approach
A complete streaming platform, from venue to viewers
When Corda Arena first explored its streaming needs, the team realized they weren’t looking for a traditional broadcasting solution or an events platform. They needed a full media platform: live streaming, video on demand, CMS, and front-end applications across web, iOS, and Android. Dolby OptiView, together with its partners, provides the workflow from capture to playback so the venue’s streaming infrastructure is always ready.
Multi-view live streaming
Remote viewers aren’t locked to a single broadcast perspective. Dolby OptiView streams all camera feeds from the venue in real time via WebRTC. This lets viewers switch between angles on their own and choose how they want to experience the event, bringing a level of freedom that traditional broadcasts don’t offer.
Immersive live VR at low latency
Beyond choosing angles on a screen, Corda Arena wanted to go further: put remote audiences inside the venue. Using VR headsets, viewers are placed in the arena with a 180-degree live view from 2 different camera angles, able to look around naturally and talk to others watching alongside them through proximity-based voice chat, just like standing next to someone in real life. The stream runs at 4K quality with roughly one second of delay, making the experience feel genuinely live.
On-prem encoding for premium quality
What makes the VR and multi-view streams look this good starts at the source. The entire production chain uses uncompressed video, with compression applied only at the final step before delivery to Dolby OptiView. Dedicated encoding hardware installed on-site at the venue preserves the full quality of every 4K camera feed, delivering picture quality that surpasses what typical cloud-based encoding workflows can offer.
Full VOD catalog and applications
The experience doesn’t end when the event does. Through ArenaStreams, Corda Arena’s branded platform, audiences can access replays, highlights, and on-demand content between events, keeping the community engaged and giving global viewers who missed a live stream access to the full library.

Dolby OptiView & Androme: delivering the complete viewer journey
Androme is Dolby’s delivery partner for the full front-end experience. They build and maintain the CMS, web and mobile applications, and multi-view UI that viewers interact with. This means Corda Arena receives a polished, ready-to-use product without needing to hire developers or manage a separate integration project. Dolby OptiView delivers the complete solution; androme.tv powers the presentation layer.
Dolby OptiView, HISPlayer & Prismax: bringing VR to life
The VR experience at Corda Arena is a collaboration between three specialists. Prismax builds the VR application itself: the virtual recreation of the arena, the avatar system, and the proximity-based voice chat that lets remote viewers talk to each other as if they were standing side by side. It’s what makes the experience feel like being somewhere, not just watching something.
Within that environment, HISPlayer handles the video playback. Since Dolby OptiView Player is not purpose-built for VR headsets, HISPlayer integrated Dolby’s live and VOD streaming directly into their VR-native application for Meta Quest. The production workflow uses all uncompressed sources in the chain, compressing only at the final step before delivery to Dolby OptiView, then combining with HISPlayer’s playback inside the VR environment.
